Level History
Monitor Peak & RMS Level
With the Level History Instrument the Peak and RMS level of an audio-signal can be monitored which helps to keep programmme level constant.
Level Distribution
On the right side of the Level History view the statistic distribution of levels in a user-definable time window is shown - which is useful to evaluate the dynamic range of the signal and also helps to indicate the perceived loudness to the ear.
Perceived Loudness
In the level distribution view the 50% percentile of the distribution is indicated by two right-facing arrows (one for peak and one for RMS). The one for RMS is a very good indication for the perceived loudness by the human ear. The two arrows facing left show the current level - so it can be seen very quickly if the current level is higher or lower the the perceived one of the recent past.
